Blue Sparrow Doula Services Can Help You:
Get your end-of-life paperwork in order
Have you gathered the essential documents to ensure your wishes are honored and your loved ones are supported?
Have you created your living will to clearly express your preferences for medical treatment at the end of life?
Have you considered appointing a trusted person as your financial power of attorney?
Do you have a will in place to guide the distribution of your assets and personal wishes?
While I do not serve as an attorney in my doula role, I can help you explore these important questions, support you in organizing your documents, and connect you with qualified professionals when needed.
Downsize/clean out your possessions
Are you feeling overwhelmed by a lifetime of belongings — concerned about leaving a burden for your loved ones, or worried that the meaning behind cherished items might be lost? Perhaps you're preparing to downsize as your living situation changes, or have been tasked with clearing out your loved one’s residence. Whether you're sorting, donating, gifting, or simply reflecting, I’m here to help.
Together, we can thoughtfully and systematically go through you or your loved one’s possessions — deciding what to:
Donate to causes you care about
Gift to loved ones
Discard or repurpose
Or simply cherish a little longer
I’d also love to hear the stories behind your most treasured items. As we work together, we can explore creative ways to honor and memorialize these possessions so their meaning lives on in the hearts of others.
Create a legacy project
Even if you don’t consider yourself “crafty,” you might find comfort and joy in creating a legacy project — something that captures your life, values, or a special message for those you love.
These projects can be soothing and meaningful during a stressful time, and they leave behind tangible mementos that others can treasure.
(Here are just a few ideas to consider:
Create a scrapbook or photo book filled with memories and stories
Record an audio or video message to share your voice, wisdom, or reflections
Compile a cookbook of your favorite recipes and the memories behind them
Select and wrap gifts for future milestones events of loved ones that you may not be able to attend
Write letters to loved ones to express appreciation, forgiveness, to say goodbye or commemorate a milestone, like a graduation or wedding that could occur in the future
Plant a garden that can grow and bloom in your memory
These are just a few examples — your legacy project can be as unique as you are. Whether it’s creative, practical, or deeply personal, it’s a beautiful way to process your journey and leave something meaningful behind.)
Talk with a Non-Judgmental Listener
It’s not always easy to share your thoughts and fears with loved ones — especially when you worry about adding to their emotional burden. Yet being honest with yourself and having a safe space to express your concerns can be deeply healing.
Speaking with a trained end-of-life doula offers that space. While I do not provide professional counseling services, I am trained in compassionate, non-judgmental listening. Whether you want to talk about your fears, regrets, accomplishments, or simply reflect on your journey, I am here to hold that space with care and confidentiality.
You don’t have to carry everything alone. I would be honored to support you with presence, empathy, and respect as you navigate this part of your life.
Finish the hard work of forgiveness
Is there something you need to say — to someone, or even to yourself — in order to find peace?
Do you feel the need to apologize or make amends before it’s too late?
Are you carrying resentment or pain from being wronged, and longing to let it go?
Do you want to release the burdens of guilt, regret, or unresolved conflict?
Forgiveness — whether of yourself or others — can be one of the most difficult, yet healing, parts of the end-of-life journey.
While not acting in a professional counselor role, I am trained to support you through this process with compassion, confidentiality, and without judgment. I’m here to help you explore what forgiveness means to you, and to walk beside you as you work toward emotional peace and closure — whatever that looks like for you.
Ensure companionship and support at the end
Are you worried about what your final days might look like? Even with hospice care in place, many people fear being alone, in pain, or without someone to advocate for their wishes.
An end-of-life doula can be a steady, compassionate presence — a companion, an advocate, and an extra set of eyes and hands to help you navigate this final chapter with as much comfort and dignity as possible.
Along with your hospice team, I can sit vigil with you, offering calm reassurance in your final hours. To the extent possible, I will help ensure your final wishes are honored and that you are not alone. You deserve to be seen, heard, and supported — all the way to the end.
Pre-Plan Your Funeral or Memorial
Have you thought about what you’d like to happen after you die? Making these decisions in advance can bring peace of mind — for you and for those you love.
Do you have specific songs, readings, or rituals you’d like included?
Are there people you want to be present — or not?
Would you prefer a green burial, a celebration of life, or something entirely unique?
Have you considered hosting your own living funeral — a chance to celebrate your life with friends and family while you're still here?
An end-of-life doula can help you explore today’s many options and support you in planning a funeral or memorial that reflects your values, personality, and wishes. Whether traditional or unconventional, your farewell can be as meaningful and personal as your life.
Plan a Bucket-List Trip
Let us help you plan the journey of a lifetime. Whether you’re ready to go, want to send someone in your place, or simply enjoy dreaming about it — I would love to help you research and explore the trip you’ve always imagined.
A bucket-list trip doesn’t have to be extravagant. It just has to be meaningful to you. Whether it’s a return to a childhood home, a visit to a sacred place, or a quiet weekend by the sea, we’re here to help you make it happen — or at least bring it to life in your heart and mind.
These are just a few examples of what an end-of-life doula can offer. The most important message is this:
You still have choices. You still have power. You can find meaning, joy, and connection — even now.
You don’t have to walk this path alone. With the right support, you can take action, find peace, and live fully in the time you have.
